810 Varsity's inaugural soccer showcase certainly lives up to its name.

The first annual Best of the Midwest Soccer Showcase will be held Saturday, October 15 at the College Boulevard Athletic Complex. Games will be held on both the soccer field and football field at the same time, and all being top matches of area programs.

In fact, per the preseason USA Today regional poll, 5 of the 6 top in the region will be in the event, and 7 of the top 15. Since then, a few of the names have changed, but 7 of the top 15 remain, including Rockhurst - the No. 1 team in the NATION, along with Olathe East at #10.

Each get stupendous matchups, per the state coaches association polls, with Missouri's No. 1 Rockhurst facing No. 2 CBC from St. Louis, and  No. 2 Olathe East merely facing  No. 1 St. Thomas Aquinas, also highly ranked regionally and nationally. Add in the fact that the two are the Kansas Class 6A and 5A perennial title contenders, lie miles away and never face each other will make for a marquee matchup to not miss.

"As with the other 810 Varsity events, the goal is to bring the highest level of games and teams to Kansas City, instead of schools having to travel for such an event," said 810 Varsity's Chad Rader. "Bringing in CBC, Washburn Rural and keeping Rockhurst, Olathe East and Aquinas here make for an instant event to not miss."

Add in Lee's Summit vs Shawnee Mission East, perennially tough Park Hill South vs Washburn Rural and a rivalry game of Bishop Miege vs Barstow made a great original lineup. Then added were Lee's Summit North vs Olathe Northwest, and Missouri semifinalist Grain Valley vs Kansas Class 5A semifinalist Blue Valley Southwest, and the entire day is filled with top flight matches.

"It's easily the premiere event in the history of Kansas City high school soccer, and will strive to keep going at this level," said Rader.

All seven of the Kansas teams in 810 Varsity's Best of the Midwest Showcase are ranked in the Kansas Coaches Association's Top 10. In fact, the seven are ranked in the top EIGHT.
