Feb 11 will be mammoth event, lineup

5-6 Likely State Champs, Division I recruits galore

The Best of the Midwest Showcase, Session II may have been postponed, but it returns even better than the original.

The Showcase will be held on Saturday, February 11 at Blue Valley Northwest high school. The revised lineup features a stellar lineup of great local teams, top regional teams and Division I offered players galore.

The original date, set for January 14, was postponed due to icy conditions and school cancellations. The original lineup was invited, but due to scheduling conflicts or ACT testing times, not all schools were able to attend.

Now the makeup shootout includes:

- Chaminade, the defending Missouri Class 5 state champions and the No. 1 team in Missouri Class 5

- Webster Groves, which features two of the top 30 in the nation in the 2018 class. Power forward Carte'Are Gordon ranks No. 10 in the 2018 ESPN Top 60 and point guard Courtney Ramey ranks No. 28 per Rivals

- Iowa City West, the top team in Iowa and ranked in the MaxPreps Top 25 in the nation, as high as No. 18. THe Trojans feature Connor McCaffrey, an Iowa commit, and younger brother

- Blue Valley Northwest, the No. 1 team in Kansas Class 6A

- Hayden, featuring sophomore guard Zach Harvey, offered by Kansas and other Division I powers.

- Barstow, the defending Missouri Class 3 runner-up and likely Kansas City Player of the Year, Jacob Gilyard averaged a robust 35 ppg and committed to Richmond.

Every team in the Kansas City area is ranked in the 810 Varsity Top 25: No. 2 Blue Valley Northwest, No. 7 Barstow, No. 12 Ottawa, No. 14 St. James Academy, No. 19 Liberty, No. 20 Free State, No. 21 Raytown and No. 23 Lawrence.

Chaminade is ranked No. 1 in Class 5 in MO, Webster Groves at No. 3

Iowa City West is No. 1 in big class 4A in Iowa.

"I don't know in the history of Kansas City - or maybe the Midwest - has the No. 1 team in the top class in three states have been in the same event," touted 810 Varsity's Chad Rader. "With Chaminade and Webster Groves, the Missouri champ easily can be one of those two. ICW in Iowa, BV Northwest in 6A. And St. James and Hayden in 5A and 4A-II. There could easily be five state champs playing after 6 pm on Saturday!"

"Plus there are four 4-star or higher kids in the event, over 15 Division I offered kids playing - the Best of the Midwest is a must see for basketball fans of all levels."

Admission will be $8 for adults, $6 for students.
