Eaglecrest hired Dustin Delaney as its new head football coach, the school announced in a release on Wednesday.

Delaney, who will also join the Raptors as a physical education teacher, comes to Colorado from Shawnee Mission East (Prairie Village, Kan.).

There, Delaney was 52-8 over five seasons, including winning the state’s Class 6A title in 2014.

Prior to that, Delaney was the head coach at Emporia (Emporia, Kan.), where he was 23-10 over three seasons. He also served as the offensive coordinator at Hutchinson (Hutchinson, Kan.) for four years prior to that, helping the team to four straight state titles.

The Emporia State graduate inherits a team that finished as the 2017 5A runner-up to Pomona under Mike Schmitt, who left the job to move to Pennsylvania with his family.

“Coach Delaney will have a significant, positive impact on our students — both academically and athletically,” Eaglecrest athletic director Vince Orlando said in a statement. “He is an outstanding tactician who will put our players in the best position to be successful.”
