After treading some tough waters the past few seasons, Eudora is ready to make some waves in 2019.

The Cardinals, who have mustered five wins in the past three years, look to turn the corner ahead this season.

“We expect to compete in every game and keep getting better as the season progresses,” stated head coach Sean Hayden. “We want to be the team that nobody wants to draw when the playoff rankings come out.”

A good place to start the turnaround will be senior tight end and defensive end Sloan Hayden (6-foot-5, 235), a transfer from Ulysses. Hayden commited to Missouri State and is an 810 Varsity Elite 81 first-team selection.

Sloan Hayden will help bolster a senior-laden offensive with senior center Chris Huslig (5-foot-10, 215), senior guard Brett Neis (5-foot-8, 210), and senior tackle Kaden Hartwell (6-foot-2, 285). Junior guard Alex Allison (5-foot-10, 185) as well as junior guard Trevor Bohnenblust (5-foot-10, 205) and junior tackle Travis Bohnenblust (5-foot-10, 205) will line up in the trenches.

In the backfield, quarterback Zeke Reazin (5-foot-10, 160) returns as the starter at quarterback. Junior running back Cael Lynch (5-foot-9, 150), sophomore fullback Brayden Beerbower (6-foot-1, 185) and senior fullback Jake Boucher (6-0, 175) also will garner totes.

On the outside, senior receiver Noah Watkins (6-0, 160) and junior wideout Matt Evans (6-foot-1, 175) will snare passes. Sophomore Silas Etter (6-foot-2, 190) figures to be in the mix at multiple positions as well.

Defensively, Sloan Hayden lines up at defensive end along with Huslig and Neis returning as starting defensive tackles. Boucher, Allison and Beerbower return as starting linebackers, while Evans and Watkins also returns as starters in the secondary.

“We will need to stay healthy and keep getting better every game,” Sean Hayden said. “We have the toughest league in Class 4A without a doubt. There are no off games, but it makes you better, which is our goal.”
