Per sources, Maxwell resigns as head football coach

After five seasons and a state championship at Harrisonville, Brent Maxwell is stepping down as the Wildcats head football coach effectively immediately, per multiple sources on Thursday night.

Maxwell registered a 48-18 record as the head coach at HHS, including an 11-2 mark in his debut season in 2014 after taking over for Chuck Lliteras. The Wildcats followed with a 12-1 record before the 2016 state title year, in which the Wildcats (12-3) lost three straight midseason games, then won out with a monster win over Webb City (27-21) and the championship, 21-14, over Kearney.

Harrisonville went 9-4 and 4-8 in the last two seasons.

Per sources, Maxwell will remain with Harrisonville as athletic director, while assistant coach Kyle Schenker will serve as interim head coach.
