If it were up to the Frontier League, Kansas will have another division of state championships ahead. Time will tell if the schools of Kansas feel the same way.

The principals of the Frontier League schools signed a Bylaw Amendment Proposal earlier this month, which will be voted on at the September 2019 KSHSAA Board of Directors Meeting.

The proposed amendment to Rule 5 "Classification of Senior High Schools" is that all member private high schools would compete in separate post-season championships. There currently are 27 private high schools as members of KSHSAA.

The proposal would have to be approved by the KSHSAA Board of Directors before then being voted on by principals of Member Schools. Should it pass both of those stages, it would then have to be passed in Kansas state legislature, as classification by enrollment is a Kansas state bylaw (KSA 72-130).

If the proposal was adopted, the changes would go into effect for the 2020-21 school year, with football implemented starting in 2022. The postseason format would be aligned by the private schools - such as if there would be a big-class and small-class division for private school championships. 

The Frontier League is compromised of Baldwin, Bonner Springs, Eudora, Louisburg, Ottawa, Paola, Piper, Spring Hill and Tonganoxie. 

A previous attempt by Paola to amend bylaw KSA 72-130 to eliminate classification by attendance died in committee in June, 2016.

Such title runs as Bishop Miege's current five-peat in Class 4A or private schools winning girls soccer classes 5A (11 of last 13 yars) and 4A-1A (all since 2006), as well as volleyball in 5A of 12 of 13 years, and 4A 9 of 10 years, in addition to other sports, has continued to spur the desire for a classification adjustment in Kansas.
