Week One: 15-4

Missouri

Rockhurst at Blue Springs
The crown jewel of Kansas City annual matchups, and this one will be no different in Coach Severino's last season. Rock State got Blue Springs twice last year - but both at Dasta Stadium. The series returns to Peve Stadium this year and both teams lost key players, but return solid casts. Will side with revenge in a one-score game.
Winner: Blue Springs

Blue Springs South at Raymore-Peculiar
The Jags played well in the head coaching debut of Matt Klein, losing late to No. 9 Raytown. Ray-Pec mauled beleaguered Park Hill South. In end, Luke Grimm makes a game-changing play for a narrow Ray-Pec win.
Winner: Ray-Pec

St. Joe Central at Lee’s Summit North
Indians get the Broncos after a tough road loss to open the year. Not pretty.
Winner: Lee’s Summit North

Fort Osage at Lee’s Summit West
Both teams combined for six total points in Week One. Expect the Titans to be better in this battle of big names.
Winner: Lee’s Summit West

Park Hill at Liberty
Liberty had Park Hill’s number last year. Both return very good defenses and potential offenses. Leaning towards Park Hill, with a tad better defense and revenge on the mind.
Winner: Park Hill

Lee’s Summit at Belton
Both suffered tough losses in Week One. Tigers should notch the first win of the year though.
Winner: Lee’s Summit

Liberty North at Truman
Eagles had the biggest eye-opener in Week One, beating Lee’s Summit North. They’ll keep it going at Truman.
Winner: Liberty North

Platte County at Park Hill South
Shouldn’t be a problem for Pirates.
Winner: Platte County

Staley at Kearney
Man, how many good games are there on Friday? This should be another. Really want to pick Kearney, but the line and defense of Staley may be a grade better.
Winner: Staley

William Chrisman at North Kansas City
Coin flip.
Winner: North Kansas city

Raytown at Oak Park
Jays shouldn’t have any troubles here.
Winner: Raytown

Ruskin at Smithville
Neither should the Warriors.
Winner: Smithville

Grain Valley at Grandview
Another toss-up, but going with the Eagles.
Winner: Grain Valley

Winnetonka at Raytown South
Both teams undefeated! Liking Tonka’s offense and lots of returning talent.
Winner: ‘Tonka Tough

Excelsior Springs at St. Joe Benton
Tigers should run past Benton
Winner: Excelsior Springs

Maryville at Harrisonville
Both teams ran into buzzsaws and possible state champs in Blair Oaks and Kearney. HVille took a big loss last year at Maryville. Just for fun…
Winner: Harrisonville

Oak Grove at Blair Oaks
Tigers enjoyed a fun win last Friday. But if Maryville wasn’t ready for Blair Oaks, don’t know if OG is either.
Winner: Blair Oaks

Warrensburg at Marshall
Going Da ‘Burg, just so I could write that.
Winner: Warrensburg

Bishop Ward at Summit Christian
Like what Summit Christian has going
Winner: SCA

Van Horn at Butler
Going Falcons
Winner: Van Horn

University Academy at Pembroke Hill
Should be a fun game
Winner: Pembroke Hill

Kansas

St. Thomas Aquinas at Blue Valley
Aquinas lost some key pieces from last year’s team. Blue Valley healthy. Will be close, but…
Winner: St. Thomas Aquinas

BV North at Bishop Miege
Man, talk about some offensive weaponry on both sides. Still, it’s Miege, who romped North WITH Graham Mertz.
Winner: Bishop Miege

BV West at Mill Valley
Another toss up. Can just say Jaguars win?
Winner: Blue Valley West

St. James Academy at BV Northwest
Thunder looking for best year in school history.
Winner: St. James

Shawnee Mission East at Gardner-Edgerton
Blazers have Lancers number recently, and return best team in awhile.
Winner: G-E

Olathe West at Free State
Really liking Free State this year.
Winner: Free State

Olathe South at Lawrence
Another up in the air game in week one.
Winner: Olathe South

Olathe East at Olathe North
Yeah, the Eagles have all the preseason love, but could go either way.
Winner: Olathe North

Manhattan at Olathe Northwest
Indians drive home with a W.
Winner: Manhattan

SM North at SM South
Raiders…
Winner: SM South

SM West at SM Northwest
If Vikings can contain the passing attack of Cougars, will be in the mix. But…
Winner: SM Northwest

Blue Valley Southwest at Lansing
Can Lions handle the passing attack? Sure, why not.
Winner: Lansing

Basehor-Linwood at Tonganoxie
Fun rivalry about 9 minutes apart. Hard to go against Bobcats.
Winner: Basehor-Linwood

Leavenworth at De Soto
Wildcats looking strong for UKC.
Winner: De Soto

Bonner Springs at Paola
Panthers return nearly everyone. Be a good test for both sides to open the year.
Winner: Paola

Louisburg at Spring Hill
LHS ready for another big year.
Winner: Louisburg
