The final 810 Varsity event for 2019 may be saving the best for last.

The 810 Varsity Shootout, which takes a year hiatus from Avila University as the host site, features numerous matchups in the 810 Varsity Top 25. The five-game event tips at 1:30 pm Saturday at Blue Valley Northwest high school.

After leading off at 1:30 pm with a solid girls faceoff between Blue Valley Northwest and St. Teresa's Academy, the action jumps right into the mix with No. 23 Center facing No. 21 Shawnee Mission East at 3 pm.

St. Thomas Aquinas, No. 3 in the 810 Varsity Top 25 and champions of the Liberty North Invitational last week, will face Park Hill, the third place team in the tourney, and a rematch of the semifinal from a week ago. 

Blue Valley, which narrowly lost in the third-place game vs Grandview last week, locks up with No. 20 Raytown at 6 pm. The Bluejays are 4-1 for the year, with their only loss coming out of state.

In the final, Olathe East takes on defending Class 6A state champion and host Blue Valley Northwest at 7:30 pm.

"As usual, all games will feature top teams and strong matchups. Its a good lineup to stay warm and watch some good high school basketball," said 810 Varsity's Chad Rader.
