Pittsburg appeared to shake off the weariness of an early morning ride to Kansas City, and woke up in the second half.
The Dragons trekked two hours to Kansas City for the 11 am opener of the 810 Varsity Sunflower Showcase. But PHS found itself down in the first half to Schlagle, trailing at half, 33-26.
The second half treated Pittsburg much better.
The Dragons scorched the nets for 56 second-half points, including 10 three-pointers and 18 free throws, and drove home a 82-70 winner.
Gavyn Elkamil and Javon Grant led the way for Pittsburg with a combined 64 points. Elkamil hit three trifectas and went 18-of-20 from the line for a game-high 35 points, while Grant connected on five three's for 29 points.
Tyrese Cannon (18), Kendall Brewer (17) and London Taylor (15) led the scoring for Schlagle.
