Pembroke Hill's Lattan, Blue Valley's Marchesano earn honors

810 Varsity and Children's Mercy Sports Medicine Center have partnered for a weekly Children’s Mercy Sports Medicine Center Metro Area High School Male and Female Student-Athlete Performance of the Week award! 

Nominations are due each week, by Monday at noon, and can be submitted online at 

810 Varsity also will post weekly reminders on Twitter and at as well. 

On Monday afternoon, the selection committee will review the nominations and choose a weekly Male and Female winner. Then Tuesday, the winners will be announced on both the 810 Varsity and the Children’s Mercy Sports Medicine Center social media channels, as well as .

At the end of the year, a Male and Female Student-Athlete of the Year will be selected, and each winner will be invited to be recognized on the field prior to a Sporting KC match at Children’s Mercy Park.

Sarah Lattan, Pembroke Hill

Lattan helped lead the Raiders to their first undefeated regular season in school history. The junior middle blocker racked up 167 kills and 80 blocks, as well as 89% serving. Lattan notched 100% serving with 17 kills, 4 blocks and 6 digs in Pembroke Hill's season-ending loss to Platte County in the first round of the Class 4 state tournament.


Tyler Bowden, Tonganoxie

Bowden continued his monster season at Tonganoxie with 257 rushing yards and 5 TDs in the Chieftains second-round playoff win. For the year, the senior running back leads the Metro with 2,479 rushing yards, 247.9 yards per game and 37 rushing scores.



Zach Marchesano, Blue Valley

Marchesano helped lead Blue Valley to the Kansas Class 6A semifinals with two shutouts against the No. 1 team in Class 6A - Blue Valley West - and No. 4 ranked Blue Valley Northwest. The goalkeeper notched 15 saves in the two wins.
