810 Varsity and Children's Mercy Sports Medicine Center have partnered for a weekly Children’s Mercy Sports Medicine Center Metro Area High School Male and Female Student-Athlete Performance of the Week award! 

Nominations are due each week, by Monday at noon, and can be submitted online at https://www.childrensmercy.org/performanceoftheweek 

810 Varsity also will post weekly reminders on Twitter and at 810Varsity.com as well. 

On Monday afternoon, the selection committee will review the nominations and choose a weekly Male and Female winner. Then Tuesday, the winners will be announced on both the 810 Varsity and the Children’s Mercy Sports Medicine Center social media channels, as well as 810Varsity.com .

At the end of the year, a Male and Female Student-Athlete of the Year will be selected, and each winner will be invited to be recognized on the field prior to a Sporting KC match at Children’s Mercy Park.

MALE PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK - 6/3/2021

Carson Liggett, Blue Valley

Carson Liggett helped boost Blue Valley to the Kansas Class 6A state baseball title, going 3-0 in the three state games. The Louisville commit fired 9 innings with just 1 earned run allowed over the state championship weekend at Fort Scott including closing out the state title game over Gardner-Ederton.

For the season, Liggett finished with a perfect 9-0 record, and a ridiculous 0.80 ERA and 0.67 WHIP.

FEMALE PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK - 6/3/2021

Kendra Wait, Gardner-Edgerton

Kendra Wait became the first Kansas female to win four golds at the state track and field championships in 108 years. Wait took home gold in the Kansas Class 6A gold in shot put (41'2.5"), pole vault (11'0"), long jump (18'5") and 100 meter (12.02). 

Wait, who was named the Kansas Gatorade Volleyball Player of the Year in 2019, will play volleyball at Creighton next year.
