1. Blue Valley North

The top slot could be any of five teams week-to-week. But hard to not go with the defending Class 6A champs.

The Mustangs still strong after Class 6A title with junior Janelle Green committed to Cincinnati and soph hitter Logan Parks one of the best in the 2025 class. Senior Sophia McIntyre brings experience back too, while junior Sophia Munro and soph Jenna McClure are ready too.

2. Liberty

Jays knocked off heralded Olathe Northwest at the Slam, and boast a senior-heavy attack including senior setter Ashley Mullen, middle blockers Aisha Aiona and Gracey Toney and one of the state's youngest future stars in hitter Abigail Mullen (6-foot-3), named last May to the USA Volleyball U19 Training Team.

The Kansas Class 5A runner-ups in 2021, the Thunder stockpiled with underclassmen in junior all-staters in KU commit Heidi Devers at libero, outside hitter Ava Spachek and Mya Bolton, junior middle blocker Julia Hedley as well as soph setter Reese Messer and senior libero Lauren Brown.

4. Olathe Northwest

Ravens start at No. 5 due to the loss via Liberty, but are loaded in bringing back the entire starting lineup from a year ago, including Nebraska commit Sky Pierce (6-foot-2). Fellow juniors Jillian Huckabey and Emmy Sher also star for ONW, with soph hitter Caroline Clayton on the rise.

5. St. Thomas Aquinas

A perennial threat to win Kansas Class 5A, Saints opened with a loss to Washburn Rural, a contender for top team in the region. Saints reload as usual, with Betsy Goodenow, Reagan Anderson and Tatum Grimes returning after all-state honors. Sophomore outside hitter Alea Goolsby is another future star for the Saints.
