The sixth annual 810 Varsity Soccer Showcase looks to a be short, but sweet version in 2022.

The event will consist of three matches this Saturday, October 8 at St. Thomas Aquinas. But five of the 6 teams are ranked high in the Top 10 in Kansas.

The opener pits Bishop Miege - No. 1 in Kansas Class 4-1A - against No. 7 Wichita Classical.

Blue Valley Southwest, No. 2 in Kansas Class 5A, will take on Sumner Academy at 2 pm.

The nightcap will feature two traditional 5A powers in No. 1 St. Thomas Aquinas vs No. 6 Kapaun Mt. Carmel.

"It's a very good event as always," said Aquinas head coach Craig Ewing. "We get to see a couple of Wichita area teams that haven't been in the event.

After year six, 810 Varsity will look to expand the event.

"There may be a change of date or whatever is needed to get back to this being a premiere event in the region," stated 810 Varsity's Chad Rader. "Rockhurst, Olathe West, Aquinas, Miege - more Wichita and St. Louis schools again. It's been gratifying that this event is in year six, and its time to take it to another level ahead."
