Four Eastern Kansas League schools will now find themselves in the Kansas Class 5A state playoffs starting next year.
Blue Valley, Blue Valley North, St. Thomas Aquinas and St. James Academy shift from their current classes, into Class 5A for football starting in 2024 and 2025. Basehor-Linwood also moves up to 5A, while Lansing moves down.
Statewide, Maize and Wichita West will be in 6A, with Kapaun Mt. Carmel dropping to 4A.

In all other sports this year, Maize moves up to 6A, Harmon down to 5A and Hayden down to 3A among notable changes.
Other regional changes of note include St. Mary's and Oskaloosa up to 2A, while Maur Hill, Pleasant Ridge and Rossville drop to 1A. Maranatha Chrisitian Academy and Cair Parvael will now go from 8-man football to Class 1A in 2024 as well.
