Oak Park, Battle take Jewell titles

Northmen claim crown for second straight year, Battle takes first

Oak Park 70, Blue Springs South 47

Oak Park's season at the top of the Metro continued with another major feather in its cap - a William Jewell Holiday Classic title.

The Northmen, ranked atop the 810 Varsity Top 25 and also No. 1 in Missouri Class 6, romped Blue Springs South, 70-47, to win the Patteron Division. It marked the second straight year which Oak Park took a title in the event, and the first with Sherron Collins as head coach.

Corbin Allen led Oak Park with a game-high 23 points and 10 rebounds, earning Most Valuable Player of the Patterson Division over the three blowout wins. The Northmen won its three games by an average of 27 points.

Zeek Brown added 16 points for Oak Park, now 9-1 for the season.
Sully Mohamed's 12 points paced the Jaguars, playing in their first Jewell Classic final since 2018.

Battle 63, North Kansas City 49

The Spartans made its first trip to the Jewell Classic worth every minute of the commute from Columbia.

Battle took the championship of the Holley Division with a 63-49 win over North Kansas City. The Spartans were ranked No. 7 in Missouri Class 6 entering the event, and finished with a win over Class 6's No. 15 Liberty in the semis and the No. 3 Hornets for the title. 

Ke'Shun Jackson netted a game-high 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Spartans, while Tate McCubbin scored 12 and was named Most Valuable Player of the Holley Division.

The Hornets trailed at halftime, 22-20, but shot a chilly 5-of-15 in the final period, including 0-for-4 from three-point range, and couldn't overcome Battle.

North Kansas City's Samuel Dada scored a team-high 14 points and grabbed 13 boards, and was named to the Holley Division all-tourney team.
