Recruiting thoughts about Olathe South, BV Southwest, Gardner and Junction City

Craig Wind has written for Rivals.com along with his own recruiting service . Wind weighs in on 810 Varsity events and Kansas City metro area players through the year.

Olathe South
Olathe South knocked off a young and very talented Junction City team 64-55 to win the Spring Hill Invitational Basketball 2024 tournament. When Nic Anderson 2025 6’4” decided to take over, the talented junior helped break the game open. He’s getting more aggressive in the open floor and playing more like the combo guard role he played early on in his career. Very talented, probable D1 if he continues to progress and develop. Drey Steinbacher 2025 6’2” and Austin O’Gorman 2024 6’3” are good shooters playing positive roles on the offensive end. But at the end of the day, for the Falcons, it will be the 3-headed monster in the senior backcourt of Jacob Corrales-Josiah Polynice-Jordan Mason that will hold the answers to the overall success of this team here in 2024. When the ball goes in from deep on the floor for this trio, Olathe South is a handful for every team in the KC metro area.

Junction City
Loved the young Blue Jay team from Junction City. Head coach Nick Perez has them playing hard and very quick and explosive athletically in their backcourt. Ja’Twaan Williams 2025 6’3” was ultra speedy to the rim. Lovell Autry 2026 6’0” was the best shooting it from deep trey range. Jackson Austin 2025 6’1” played the mid range role scoring and did a little bit of everything. No real post player on this team. But I can see them as a problem for opponents out West of Topeka come state tournament time.

Other odds and ends at Spring Hill …

Blue Valley Southwest
The T-Wolves won the 3rd place game and the senior QB of the football team Dylan Dunn 2024 6’5” has BYU, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, and Kansas State all either already offered or getting ready, to play the game of football. And this just in, he’s handling his business on the basketball floor rather well in addition …

Gardner-Edgerton
Gardner Edgerton’s senior post player Colton Hawkinson 2024 6’6” has Mid American Nazarene, Baker, Benedictine, among others recruiting him as a wide receiver/tight end. Colton was instrumental in helping the Trailblazers to win a 6A state championship title …

Spring Hill
The ‘host’ team Spring Hill beefed up their front end of the schedule and won 2 games to take the consolation trophy, 5th place. New head coach Connor Bechard is working hard to teach the Flex motion offense to the Broncos. As seniors like Chase Bond 2024 6’3”, Elijah Lacey 2024 5’11”, and Brady Kaiser 2024 5’9” make more shots off the Flex, a more friendly second half of the season’s schedule could prove dividends for the Hill …

Sumner
I still really like Jaxson Davis 2026 6’3” for Sumner. He’s clearly for the 2nd time his team’s best player. Long and quick and explosive in the open floor. He’s got a chance to be a scholarship player down the road. Talented
