Read box scores, recaps from girls games in 810 Varsity's final event of the season

The 810 Varsity Showcase series concluded on Saturday with the fourth and final event of the season with the eight-game 810 Varsity Showcase 34 at Lee's Summit West. Below are recaps of the girls contests.

Basehor-Linwood 41, Lee’s Summit West 40

The Bobcats won a thriller to close the girls portion of 810 Varsity Showcase 34, in which both teams exchanged leads in the final 16 seconds.

Lee’s Summit West took a 40-39 edge with 16.0 left after a lob into the post to Cady Huffman resulted in a turnaround off the glass and bucket. Following a pair of timeouts and Basehor-Linwood having to inbounds from the opposite baseline with 10.9, Harley Baker was fouled on an attempt with 5.3 left. The senior cooly drained both charity tosses for a 41-40 margin, in front of a packed house filling up for the boys nightcap.

"I hear the student section and everyone going crazy. I was thinking, just put them in. We've been working hard to get to this point. When its a big crowd, it fired me up more."

The Titans had a chance to tie or take the lead, but a pass inside went out of bounds, sealing the win for Basehor-Linwood, which improved to 8-6.

"It was a wild game, but you'd like to think these 810 Varsity shootouts - its why we play it - to get us ready for substate," stated Basehor-Linwood head coach Jason Tatkenhorst.

Kodi Greer led the Bobcats with 16 points, while Baker added 11. Huffman led the Titans with 16 points.
