OAK PARK … Corbin Allen 2025 6’5”

Not a vintage CA performance, by any stretch of the imagination. When your team turns it over late in the game that leads to ‘and 1s’, it’s hard to overcome that. Let’s put it this way: Corbin played well enough individually for his team to win potentially. Just didn’t happen. Long and skilled enough to be a TOP 100 Nationally by every metric. All the Power 5 schools will be here this Spring. We’ll see.

LEE’S SUMMIT WEST … Cameron Barnes 2027 6’8”

The main difference between Corbin’s stat line and Cameron’s is that Cameron’s team wins Game 1- 50-47, with 7 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocked shots for the freshman phenom from West. And he plays every game like its the 7th game of the NBA championships- with an intense and engaging mindset. One of the cameramen told me before the game his money was on Oak Park by 10. I told him it was silly thinking to believe Biggie would ever lose one of these kinds of games by 10 points. Not happening.

BASEHOR-LINWOOD … Peyton Brown 2025 6’7”

Because he has long arms and big hands, he could match up and play against 6’9’s if need be. Very tough physically and fundamentally sound, both in the paint and out towards the trey line. I love his game and his versatility. The perimeter players are solid high school performers. The Bobcats ability to make a deep March run will go through Brown in the post and his ability to score the basketball. Could be a really good player.

OAK PARK … Caleb Estes 2025 6’3”

So Allen made the list, Mr. Estes was the MVP for the Northmen on the evening. He COULD be nicknamed Mr. Big Shot of the Kansas City high school basketball scene. I’ve been watching Caleb play for four years now. He has literally made 80% of the ‘big shots’ he’s taken over those four years. Great confidence fundamental footwork on his jump shot. If you were watching a backyard pick-up game, you might not notice Caleb. Good thing 810 Varsity isn’t in your backyard.

LEE’S SUMMIT … Jaylen Lockhart 2025 6’6”

From Park Hill South to Lee’s Summit and I think there was another one before PH South. But this kid is a really good kid and I probably don’t talk enough about him. If his jump shot outside of 15 foot was as good as his ability to hunt up above the rim, he’d be a Power 5 player without doubt. And he doesn’t have a bad jumper, so he still might be. He put on a clinic running the floor and finishing above the rim. He needs to blow up this Spring on the circuit.

BASEHOR-LINWOOD … Breckin McBride 2025 5’11”

Following in footsteps of his older brother at Basehor Linwood, now a walk-on at Wichita State, he may have one-upped Trevor with a 34-point performance with seven treys and 13-of-14 at the FT line on this kind of grand stage! Breckin always plays hard and leads the stat sheets in floor burns. On this occasion, he was lighting it up like it was nobody’s business for the Bobcats! The game goes through the junior post player Brown for B-L. But if this junior guard can continue his marquee shooting, that makes Mike McBride’s team DANGEROUS in March.

LEE’S SUMMIT WEST … Bryce Mitchell 2024 6’5”

The former Raymore Peculiar and KC Spur AAU star forward was SENSATIONAL on Saturday night, playing off of BIGGIE in the paint and giving the Northmen fits in guarding the basket. He’s super long and left-handed and his athlete and length always makes him a really difficult matchup for opposing teams and players. For Bryce for the past five years, as his jump shot improves and gains consistency, his stock margin goes up and up and up …

LEE’S SUMMIT WEST … Tayveon Simms 2025 5’7”

Came out of nowhere to fill in for an injured point guard. Now he’s stealing the basketball and hitting the ‘and 1” that wins the game for the Titans. Very little but VERY quick and hard-to-guard in the open floor. Dynamic!

LEE’S SUMMIT WEST … Chaz Watson 2024 6’3”

Chaz had three REALLY long treys that were “nothing but nylon” that were backbreakers for the Northmen on Saturday night. He makes it look so easy (and it’s not) when you think you have him guarded (and you don’t). Chaz is a mid D1 scoring sensation at the trey line and that’s why the KC Run GMC star shooting guard is committed to CLEVELAND STATE up on Northeastern Ohio.

ST. MICHAEL the ARCHANGEL … Michael Weis 2026 6’0”

Josh Wheeler 2026 6’0” had played early in the season and had success but now has knee injuries that will keep him out until April AAU events begin. So here comes his replacement Michael Weis with a similar game. Pure shooter from deep downtown, just like Josh. Long and skilled with some poise about his game. With Wheeler and Weis in the Guardians backcourt for the next 2 years, Archangel will be back at similar events in 2025.
