Blue Valley high school sports will add a big enhancement for families, fans and athletes for online broadcasts this upcoming school year.
Blue Valley School District (BVSD) will partner with 810 Varsity for online video broadcasts throughout the 2024-25 season for varsity football, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer and volleyball events. 810 Varsity will be the exclusive online video broadcast partner for the aforementioned sports, providing announcers for a package of home games for all five Blue Valley schools for the game package, as well as improved video production. Games will remain hosted on the NFHS Network platform for the upcoming season.
“We want to provide our Blue Valley families, student-athletes and fans with the best viewing experience, and we feel broadcasts of BVSD home events vastly improves with partnering with 810 Varsity,” touted Blue Valley school district athletic director Matt Ortman. “810 Varsity has been the media leader in high school sports in Kansas City, and this partnership carries across multiple sports, which both parties felt is very important.”
810 Varsity, the high school sports media and event entity affiliated with Sports Radio 810, started in 2008 and has broadcast games online since 2010. In addition to BVSD broadcasts, 810 Varsity serves as the production entity for NFHS for Kansas and Oklahoma state championships with over 2,250 state broadcasts, and more than 4,500 overall in the last 14 years.
Among Kansas City-area schools which 810 Varsity will continue to broadcast this fall include Rockhurst, Mill Valley, Lawrence, Olathe North and others. Broadcasts can include co-op with high school students to assist future broadcasters in their experience, and aspiring college broadcasters looking to bolster their experience and resumes. Veteran announcers with radio stations and backgrounds also will call the games ahead this season.
“810 Varsity has been the leader in online broadcasts in the region, and a large part of that has been the quality of veteran announcers, but also the willingness to invest in the future with the next generation, and give students at all levels that crucial opportunity,” 810 Varsity president Chad Rader stated. “Partnering with BVSD will give both Blue Valley and visiting schools a quality call and viewing on any device, from someone watching in the stands on a phone to a parent or grandparent watching on TV across the country, and of course, other high school and college coaches scouting. A win -win for everyone.”
In addition to the home regular and postseason football games, 810 Varsity will broadcast the Blue Valley boys basketball tourney, the KAMO girls basketball tourney, the 810 Varsity basketball showcase(s), the Fat Cat soccer tournament, and selected boys and girls basketball, soccer and volleyball games.
