Ayden Wilhelm did his best Lamar Jackson impression, and Blue Springs South advanced in the playoffs over its rival on Friday night.

The Jaguars junior quarterback took keepers of 54 and 47 yards for scores as Blue Springs South (9-2) beat Blue Springs, 19-12, for the second time in four weeks. The Jaguars also beat Blue Springs, 30-20, on October 18.

Facing a 2nd-and-8 with just over four minutes before halftime, Wilhelm dropped back to pass, took off up the middle, crossed to the left seam at the BSHS 40, then weaved through for a 54-yard touchdown and a 13-3 lead.

Blue Springs (6-5) did answer afterwards, starting with 3:41 left before halftime, and nearly thwarted on a dropped interception on the first play. But two third-down receptions by Zay Hite, then a 20-yard pass on 3rd-and-25 set up a 36-yard heave to Hite again, down to the BSS 4. Two plays later, Eli Bertz took a handoff, then lobbed a pass to Max Toia as the clock expired for a touchdown and 13-10 halftime margin.

A sack of Wilhelm in the end zone with 3:58 in the third resulted in a 13-12 deficit.

But then Blue Springs South faced another 2nd-and-6 at midfield in the fourth quarter before Wilhelm took a quarterback draw for 12 yards, met two Wildcat defenders, spun a 360-degree turn between the two, then jetted the remaining 31 yards down the left sideline for a 47-yard touchdown to seal the game at 19-12 with 5:07 left.

Blue Springs advanced to the BSS 47 on the following drive, but was held on downs.

The Jaguars, No. 10 in the 810 Varsity Top 25, will host No. 20 Liberty next Friday in the Missouri Class 6, District 7 final.
