Park Hill South 58, No. 12 Winnetonka 52

Park Hill South delivered the big stunner of the Jewell Classic on Friday night.

The Panthers, who entered the 45th annual tournament with a 2-4 record, dealt previously undefeated Winnetonka a 58-52 loss in the first round of the Patterson Division.

Carson Bjourn scored a game-high 19 points to lead Park Hill South. Bjourn hit two of his three three-pointers in the third period to help the Panthers take the lead after a 25-25 halftime tie.

Jaylen Craig paced the Griffins, ranked No. 12 in the 810 Varsity Top 25, with 18 points.

Park Hill South will face Blue Springs South in the semifinals at 12 pm on Sunday, while Winnetonka will take on Pembroke Hill in the consolation bracket.

No. 11 Blue Springs South 74, Pembroke Hill 32

Blue Springs South felt the holiday cheer and spread the wealth as 10 Jaguars scored in the opening round win at the Jewell Classic.

The Jaguars, ranked No. 11 in the 810 Varsity Top 25, coasted to a 74-32 win over Pembroke Hill in the first round of the Patterson Division on Friday evening.

Chris Ellis led the way with 17 points, while Bryon Gold tossed in 15 for Blue Springs South, now 5-2 overall.

Mavrick Hawkins paced the Raiders with 13 points.

The Jaguars will face Park Hill South in the semifinals at noon on Sunday.

No. 9 Raytown 59, Center 45

Raytown didn’t allow Center to get an upset in its mind, as the Bluejays jumped to an early 19-9 lead and coasted to a first-round win on Friday.

The Bluejays, ranked No. 9 in the 810 Varsity Top 25, were fueled by Larry Porter IV’s 21 points and emerged with a 59-45 win to advance to the Patterson Division semifinals. Jacob Wood added 19 points for Raytown, now 7-1 overall.

Raytown will face St. Michael the Archangel at 1:30 pm on Sunday, while Center faces Lincoln Prep in the consolation bracket.

St. Michael the Archangel 74, Lincoln Prep 42

Michael Weis looked great in a return from injury and helped boost St. Michael the Archangel to its first Jewell Classic semifinal appearance in three years.

The junior scored a game-high 21 points after a two-week hiatus to lead the Guardians to a 74-42 win over Lincoln Prep on Friday evening. Fellow junior Josh Wheeler tallied 17 points in the romp.

St. Michael the Archangel face Raytown in the semifinals at 1:30 pm on Sunday, while Lincoln Prep takes on Center in the consolation bracket.
