Lee's Summit North rebounded from a rough loss with a big win of its own on Friday night.
The Broncos, No. 7 in the 810 Varsity Top 25, topped No. 12 Liberty North, 27-20, at Lee's Summit North. The win followed a tough 34-7 loss to Blue Springs South last week.

After a scoreless first quarter, Lee's Summit North mounted an 11-play, 62-yard drive that took 5:26 to engineer. Quarterback Stephen Thomas hit a 17-yard pass to junior Justyn Lindsay on a third-and-12 to extend the drive at midfield. Then Thomas later hit junior Bryce Thompson out of the backfield for a 23-yard gainer down the sideline to the LN 4. Two plays later, Thomas hit William Ray in the left corner of the end zone for a 7-0 lead with 6:57 left in the half.
Then after an Eagles punt, Lee's Summit North drove 67 yards in the final 4:01 of the half, highlighted by a 23-yard pass on fourth down with :32 left. Two plays later, Thomas fired to a leaping Lindsay at the right pylon, who came down in the end zone with :21 left for a 14-0 halftime margin.
The Broncos expanded the lead to 21-0 on a Thomas two-yard keeper to cap a 48-yard drive with 4:47 left in the fourth period.
Senior Zemar Cheatam put Liberty North on the board with an eight-yard touchdown scamper to start the third. Then the Eagles pulled to 21-14 deficit on an 11-yard Xavier Scott touchdown reception from junior quarterback Brennan Smith and two-point conversion with 1:11 in the game.
Following a failed onsides kick, the Broncos connected on a 48-yard pass from Thomas to Ray again for a 27-14 lead with 47 ticks left. Smith then scored on a 13-yard keeper on the game's final play for the 27-20 score.
Liberty North, which had won four straight, dropped to 4-3 and will host Rockhurst next Friday. Lee's Summit North will play at Lee's Summit West next Friday.
