Grandview senior Arlonn Tolson spent the majority of the 2014 season resting on the sideline with a broken wrist.
A year later, he committed the preseason working to reclaim his job on the Bulldogs’ offense.
“I said I wanted to make a major comeback,” he said. “But it would only be complete once I got into the end zone.”
Consider it completed.
Tolson scored three touchdowns in Grandview’s 38-0 victory Friday against Oak Park. The Bulldogs improved to 2-0.
After scoring only 67 points over the final six games last season — a year that included one victory — the Bulldogs have put up 96 in the first two weeks.
And the defense has been much-improved, too. Grandview has allowed only one special teams touchdown this season.
“They’re playing their hearts out,” first-year Grandview coach Jeremie Picard said in a phone interview after the game. “Our offense really did their job — and we’re happy when we score 38 points, obviously — but our defense just played exceptionally well. They went out and executed everything we asked.”
