Short-handed Park Hill nudges Liberty, 20-10

Friday was a night for the sophomores to shine for Park Hill and Liberty. In the end, it was Park Hill's as the brightest.

Sophomore quarterback Billy Maples went 10-for-24 with 167 passing yards and a touchdown to lead the Trojans to a 20-10 win at Park Hill District Athletic Complex.

His second quarter connection with receiver Quinton Harris for a 38-yard touchdown put Park Hill ahead, 6-3.

From there, No. 10 Park Hill (3-1) also scored on a 1-yard run by running back Zach Neal to make it, 13-3. The clincher came with a pick-6 48-yard interception return for a touchdown by Devin Haney to make the game, 20-3 in the fourth quarter.

A scary moment came on the ensuing kickoff as Liberty senior Xavier Hinkle lost consciousness during the run back. He laid motionless for several moments on the turf before being transported to a local hospital - but was alert and gave a thumbs up to his teammates who surrounded the ambulance prior to resuming play.

Liberty took the ensuing drive 85 yards for their only touchdown of the game, on a Robert Rawie 3-yard pass. The sophomore running had 39 carries for 175 yards and a passing touchdown in a losing effort.
