The Trojans rebound with win at LS North

Chalk it up to early-season jitters. A varsity squad with a lack of varsity playing time. These are problems Lee’s Summit North has faced early on in the boys basketball season.

But Broncos coach Mike Hilbert said there was another explanation for his team’s 64-55 loss to Park Hill Dec. 15 at North’s Field House: Park Hill is just that good.

“I give a lot of credit to Park Hill for what happened tonight,” Hilbert said. “We were inconsistent both offensively and defensively, but the reason is because Park Hill is a really good team and well-coached.”

Park Hill took advantage of the Broncos’ inconsistency, especially in the first half. The Trojans forced 17 turnovers, many of which fueled their full-court offense and two big scoring runs that put them up 17 points in the second quarter.

Hilbert, meanwhile, shuffled players in and out looking for the right combination to stop the Trojans, a task made more difficult when players who excelled in last weekend’s second-place finish in the Webster Groves Classic failed to contribute against Park Hill.
