KSHSAA announces partnership through 18-19

Exclusive Broadcasts Set Through 2018-19

Kansas high school fans, families and student-athletes can enjoy state championship online broadcasts for the next few years – and for free.

The Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) has partnered with 810 Varsity to webcasts KSHSAA events, starting this fall.

“We look forward to providing this service to our member schools and those interested in Kansas high school sports at no cost to viewers,” said Gary Musselman, KSHSAA Executive Director.

810 Varsity, the high school entity affiliated with Sports Radio 810 WHB, will bring over 40 KSHSAA state championships in 11 different sports, exclusively online at 810Varsity.com, as well as in conjunction with Open Spaces Sports for coverage in the western half of Kansas.

Since 2010, 810 Varsity has broadcast many KSHSAA state championships, including five football title games and 14 state basketball tournaments (5A-1A, boys and girls) in 2015-16, for free to viewers – live or archived - on 810Varsity.com.

"Bringing online statewide championship broadcasts has been a top goal and vision of 810 Varsity for years, and it’s gratifying to be able to bring Kansas' biggest events live to families and fans," said 810 Varsity's Chad Rader. "It's also great that families, athletes and schools know they're getting a great, reliable product for years ahead from an entity dedicated to Kansas, and aligned with the same goals and visions of the KSHSAA."

Open Spaces Sports, the long-time reputable entity based in Colby, KS, will provide online broadcasts mainly for the 2A and 1A levels, and championships in Hays and Dodge City.

For the next three years, championships in sports such as football, basketball, volleyball, wrestling and swimming/diving, soccer and baseball/softball will be broadcast live.

“This is a very robust broadcast package which includes all class levels and genders throughout many sports,” stated Rader, a Kansas native and graduate. “It’s thrilling to be able to bring that to my home state for years to come.”

810 Varsity also will expand its regular season coverage statewide for football and basketball, including regular season broadcasts in Kansas City and Lawrence, as well as Topeka, Salina, Wichita and other areas on 810Varsity.com.

“To have a central hub for broadcasts, as well as scores, team pages, news and results is a major project, and an evolving one with help from many people around the state,” Rader said. “But 810 Varsity welcomes anyone enthusiastic about Kansas high school sports, and part of a growing statewide platform.”
