810 Varsity Showcase features nation's No. 25 Bradford

The 810 Varsity Showcase, Session II will bring star power to Lee's Summit High this Saturday.

With over 10 players with offers from Division I schools, the fourth annual event will live up to the hype of previous years - which is a tall task. Or even last week's Session I, which feature five straight games decided in the final minute.

After opening at Municipal Auditorium in 2015, then featuring Michael Porter in 2016, the event featured the big class state champs in Missouri (Webster Groves), Kansas and Iowa last year. And many future college stars along the way.

On Saturday? Try the No. 1 team in Missouri, Lee's Summit West, vs perennial power CBC from St. Louis. While the Cadets are young this year, they merely feature the top Missouri sophomore and ESPN's No. 25 recruit of 2020, Davion Bradford. The 6-foot-10 sophomore already has interest from Illinois, Iowa and Mizzou.

Scouting report on Bradford: "Bradford has outstanding size and skill for his age and position. He's an excellent rebounder at both ends, a high-level shot blocker, and uses agility and footwork rare for such a young big in order to beat defenders. He's also credited as having maturity beyond his years, showing great leadership and energy."

Along with Bradford is sophomore guard Caleb Love, also being recruited by Mizzou (and K-State, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana and Xavier).

CBC always has another name in the making, from long-time NBA'er Larry Hughes to current Mizzou standout Jordan Barnett, and others. Even head coach Justin Tatum' s name rings a bell - the father of NBA standout rookie Jayson Tatum.

But the Titans have quite the team as well, with Christian Bishop, a Creighton commit, and Yor Anei, a commit to Oklahoma State, in the frontcourt. Plus the play of Mario Goodrich and Rich Johnson in the backcourt.

The game will be one of the tops in Missouri, with media from St. Louis and others already confirming spots at the game. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:30 pm.

If that wasn't enough, the prior game will be another doozy. Defending Kansas 6A champ and No. 1 in Kansas Blue Valley Northwest vs Grandview - No. 4 in Missouri Class 4. Star guard and Northwest commit Jordan Lathon will be back for the clash. Tipoff is 7 pm.

The rest of the day will also be a buffet of Lee's Summit action with the Lee's Summit girls, Lee's Summit West girls and Lee's Summit North boys. Not to mention nearby teams in Raytown and others.

The day will feature four of the 810 Varsity Top 25 (No. 1 LS West, No. 6 Grandview, No. 9 Blue Valley Northwest, No. 17 Raytown) and three teams who have been in the Top 25 - Center, Blue Valley and Lee's Summit North. In fact, every KC area team in the event will have  been or are ranked in the Top 25 in 2017-18.
