Park Hill South 70, North Kansas City 61 (OT)

For the second time in two weeks, Park Hill South dealt a top 5 team a loss on the biggest stage.

The Panthers outlasted previously undefeated North Kansas City, 70-61, in overtime. The Hornets entered the game - the semifinals of the North Kansas City Invitational - as the No. 5 team in Missouri Class 5, and No. 3 in the 810 Varsity Top 25. 

The Panthers, No. 9 in Class 5, dealt the No. 1 team in Kansas Class 6A, Blue Valley Northwest, a loss in the 810 Varsity Showcase two Saturdays ago.

"We have shown to ourselves that we can play with the top teams, and are one of the top teams, when we focus and play a full game," said Park Hill South head coach Dan Parra. "But we have a tough one ahead for sure."

The reward for the Panthers - the title game vs another undefeated in Rock Bridge, No. 4 in the state. The two will face off Friday at 7 pm.

Park Hill South held a 29-27 lead at half, North Kansas City surged after half, taking a 44-38 edge into the final quarter. But the Panthers rallied late to go into overtime. 

Lamel Robinson (19) and Desi Williams (18) paced the South attack in scoring, with Saadique Perkins adding 14. T.J Babikir led North Kansas City with 28, while Deng Bol was held in check with 8.

Rock Bridge 72, Oak Park 56

A much anticipated Oak Park vs North Kansas City tourney final was put out of question early - by Rock Bridge.

The undefeated Bruins got out and going early, putting the game out of reach by half in a battle of Class 5 Top 10 squads. Rock Bridge, No. 4 in Class 5, built a 35-21 halftime lead over the No. 9 Northmen, and coasted into the North Kansas City Invitational final. 

The trio of Isiaih Mosley (22 points), Dejuan Harris (17) and Jamonta Black (17) combined for 56 points with five three-pointers and 13-of-15 from the line.
