Lee's Summit North continued its sprint past early season foes, including its season opener over Liberty North which featured four 100-yard rushers. Up next will be a landmark that the Broncos have awaited - Blue Springs. A win or close game will go a long way to making the Broncos - and others - know that LS North is a serious contender for a playoff run. But LS North catches Blue Springs at home off a 17-0 blanking at Rockhurst - which is the worst time to catch a team.

If Raymore-Peculiar continues to get two non-offense touchdowns a game, the Panthers will be a tough out weekly. After two pick-6's in a 41-35 win at Park Hill South, Ray-Pec enjoyed two more returns - including a kickoff return from Luke Grimm for a TD - in a 35-35 OT win at Blue Springs South.

Liberty enjoyed one of the best turnarounds from Week 1 to Week 2. After a 43-18 loss vs Lee's Summit, Liberty basically shut down Park Hill for three quarters and held off a late Trojans rally for a 24-21 win, and look to now win a second straight against Truman.

Speaking of Park Hill, the Park Hill district is off to a rough start. The Trojans are suddenly 0-2, while Park Hill South again has major injuries at quarterback for the second straight season with Matt Suchanick out. To lose is one thing, to have two years of back of injuries - especially at quarterback - just stinks for the 2019 senior class that looked to have a solid year.

Signs of having a great winning tradition? Platte County, as the Pirates have racked up two blowouts despite rebuilding their roster. Spencer Stewart has been very solid at quarterback, and Adel Freitek has brought a solid running game to PC.

Signs of trying to build a winning tradition? Raytown, after a signature win over Blue Springs South, the Bluejays sustain a loss to Oak Park. Tip of the hate to the Northmen controlling the game on the ground with Colton Tisthammer (105 rushing yards, TD) and Phil Corbin (77 yards) having nice games. Meanwhile, the loss should be a good lesson forward for Raytown, which has talented squad ahead.

The trio of Lee's Summit schools are now 6-0 and all should be in the 810 Varsity Top 10 this week. Lee's Summit West has notched the most impressive pair of wins so far over Park Hill, and rallying from a 15-0 deficit at No. 10 Fort Osage for a 22-15 win behind a strong defense in the second half, and 22 unanswered points, as Ben Kobel hit Cade Clemons, Trevor Kardell and then Sammy Cooper for the 11-yard game-winner with under a minute left for touchdowns apiece.

Meanwhile, Lee's Summit looks to be a serious contender in the Suburban Red at 2-0 with a solid offensive line and nice young playmakers. Kaia Tupinio has been intriguing with a passing and receiving touchdown in both games.

Clyde Price should be hard to deny in the finalists of major awards, and may be at the top with his run at 3k. After 297 yards in Week One, the North Kansas City running back went over 270 again to have 568 rushing yards and 7 scores.

Another nice rebound was Raytown South. Following a struggle at Fort Osage, the Cardinals respond with a 19-7 win at Winnetonka.
