Eagles add Raimey to loaded lineup

What could better for Olathe North and Jeff Walton, after a trip to the state tourney and returning its top guard and small forward?

How about having one of the top guards in the Metro transfer across town to ONHS?

The Eagles, off a 14-win season and a trip to the Kansas Class 6A state tourney, looked strong with senior guard Tymer Jackson and Anthony Brown returning. Then KT Raimey, a 6-foot-4 guard who averaged 16 ppg while earning Sunflower League Sophomore of the Year at Olathe East, transferred to North.

The Eagles start the season at No.  10 in the 810 Varsity preseason Top 25.

"He's explosive off the dribble and a quick release jumpshot from behind the arc," Walton analyzed. "He is a tremendous passer too."

Meanwhile Jackson wasn't too shabby already in a North uniform, as the 5-foot-11 senior also averaged 16 ppg last year en route to earning first-team all-Sunflower League accolades.

"He has the ability to stretch the defense as a shooter and has really worked on his middle and finishing game over the summer," Walton commented. "He is explosive off the dribble and has great middle game touch."

Brown, a 6-foot-5 small forward, notched 11 ppg and six rebounds as a junior.

"He's a great stand-still shooter from behind the arc, so teams will always have to know where he is on the offensive end of the floor," Walton stated. "He will also be a huge rebounder for us this year."

Overall, the Eagles will look to push the ball with the playmakers they boast.

"It will be important for us to control the tempo," Walton touted. "We have a lot of guys who can go fast. I think we can be dangerous if we sell out to defending and rebounding because we can score points. This is the deepest roster I’ve ever had, a lot of skilled guys who can play at a high rate of speed."
