It's not often a team loses two Division I guards, including a four-star recruit, and is still loaded the next season.

But not all area programs are Grandview either. The defending Missouri Class 4 champions lost Mason Taylor (Air Force commit) and Jordan Lathon (UTEP) from a 27-3 juggernaut that finished No. 1 in the 810 Varsity Top 25, and still look to make another title run in Class 4.

Returning will be 810 Varsity First-Team selection Deandre Sorrells. The 5-foot-10 senior point guard averaged 14 ppg as a junior, including 45% from behind the three-point line. Sorrells is on pace to become the all-time leading three-point shooter in GHS history.

Sorrells played the wing last year, but will run the show at point guard this season.

Joining Sorrells will be Reggie Morris Jr. The 6-foot-1 junior shooting guard was the sixth man on last year's title team, and spurred a 16-point comeback in the Class 4 semifinal win over Sikeston (59-56) with 17 points.

Up front, senior forward Jermaine Yarbrough (6-foot-5) brings athleticism and length on defense, while freshman Taj Manning (6-foot-6) and senior center/forward Kamto Eze (6-foot-6) bring more size on the frontline. Manning averaged a double-double on the USA Central team that won the Junior NBA Championships this summer. Eze posted averages of 8 ppg, 5 rebounds and 3 blocks a year ago.

"Kamto played a key role as a rim protector and rebounder, and will add a strong post presence in the paint this season," said head coach Reggie Morris.

With the veteran guards and athletic forwards, Grandview will be a major threat all season long.

"The key will be their ability to create a pace that teams are not use to playing against offensively and to take advantage of mismatches with its size and athleticism," Morris stated.
