Senior, Guard, 6-foot-5

After a 4-4 start for the Huskies in 2017-18, Braun moved into the point guard slot and averaged 14.2 PPG, 3.4 assist and 4.1 rebounds. Blue Valley Northwest went 17-0 thereafter en route to its second straight state title. Braun also starred on the MoKan Elite team that reached the Nike Peach Jam semifinals. With the huge summer, Braun landed multiple high Division I offers – then committed to the University of Kansas in September.

Josh Earley, Bishop Miege

Senior, Forward, 6-foot-7

Despite playing alongside Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, Earley still posted nearly 10 points per game and over seven rebounds. Earley will have to adjust to being the focal point inside with JRE departed, but also can shine as well. Earley is committed to Northern Kentucky.

Javaunte Hawkins, Lee’s Summit North

Senior, Guard, 5-foot-11

The 5-foot-11 senior point wing set a school scoring record with 22.2 ppg last year, as well as the single-game scoring record with 39. Hawkins also owns the school marks in three-pointers in a season (73), career (159), free throws made in a season (106) and tied most field goals (13) made in a game. He already racked up 44 points – twice – on back-to-back nights of the Phog Allen Classic in the opening week this season.

Darrius Hughes, Rockhurst

Senior, Guard/Forward, 6-foot-5

Hughes looks to be the first four-year letterman at Rockhurst since 1985. He helped lead the Hawklets to a record by playing guard or both forward positions, snaring nearly seven rebounds per game a year ago. Hughes is a commit to the University of Nebraska Omaha.

Lamel Robinson, Park Hill South

Senior, Guard, 5-foot-11

If it seems like Lamel Robinson has been playing for at least four seasons, that’s because he has. Since starting at a freshman, Robinson has been at the forefront of the Panthers at point guard. The two-time all-state Class 5 selection averaged 23.8 points per game as a junior and 21.3 as a sophomore. He committed to Nebraska Omaha in September.

Deandre Sorrells, Grandview

Senior, Guard, 5-foot-10

Sorrells helped the Bulldogs to the Missouri Class 4 state title, as the 5-foot-10 senior point guard averaged 14 ppg as a junior, including 45% from behind the three-point line. Sorrells is on pace to become the all-time leading three-point shooter in GHS history

Second Team

Jacob Coleman, Basehor-Linwood

Senior, Guard, 6-foot-5

Coleman fired in 17.7 points per game while snagging 8.1 rebounds per game. He also averaged 3.1 assists, 2.7 steals and 1.5 blocks, filling up the stat sheet nightly for the Bobcats. Coleman has committed to Pittsburg State.

Jarrett Hensley, Leavenworth

Senior, Forward, 6-foot-7

Hensley played at Shawnee Mission North a year ago, but transferred to the Pioneers after the school year. While 6-foot-7, Hensley shows versatility and played with MoKan Elite in the summer.

Jonathan Jackson, Blue Valley

Junior, Guard, 6-foot-5

After playing at Metro Academy and Maranatha the prior two seasons, Jackson will get bigger exposure during the season at Blue Valley. The younger brother of North Carolina star Justin Jackson, Jonathan can fill it up from the outside, as also shown during the summer with MoKan Elite. Jackson has received interest from numerous top Division I schools.

Rich Johnson, Lee’s Summit West

Senior, Guard, 5-foot-10

Johnson was the second-leading scorer on last year’s Titan juggernaut team with two major Division I players, and now will be the focal point. Johnson opened the season with 25 points in a blowout win over Schlagle.

Ethan Kilgore, East Buchanan

Junior, Guard, 6-foot-6

Kilgore has impressed so far, both at East Buchanan and during the summer circuit with Run GMC. Kilgore has garnered interest from area Division I’s such as Nebraska, Iowa, Creighton and others.

Jaylon McDaniel, Blue Springs South

Prep Hoops

Sophomore, Forward, 6-foot-6

The 6-foot-6 sophomore has made some national recruiting rankings list, and for good reason in averaging 9.4 ppg, 6.8 rebounds and 48 blocks as just a freshman. After a full varsity year and playing with MoKan Elite during the summer, McDaniel should make a big step ahead in 2018-19. McDaniel earned honorable mention all-Suburban Gold last year.

KT Raimey, Olathe North

Photo: Darryl Woods, 810 Varsity

Junior, Guard, 6-foot-4

Raimey earned Sophomore of the Year at Olathe East last year after averaging 16 ppg. Raimey played with Run GMC this summer, then transferred across town to Olathe North, and will team with Tymer Jackson for one of the city’s top backcourts.

Keyon Thomas, Bonner Springs

Photo: Darryl Woods, 810 Varsity

Senior, Guard, 5-foot-10

The 5-foot-10 senior guard posted 19.1 ppg, five rebounds and nearly six assists last year. Thomas was a second-team all-Kansas Class 4A selection last year, and committed to play at Emporia State.

Siler Tschirhart, Blue Valley

Photo: Darryl Woods, 810 Varsity

Senior, Forward, 6-foot-8

As a junior, Tschirhart was a beast inside, posting 16.2 points per game and 8.6 rebounds. He earned first-team all-Eastern Kansas League and has garnered offers in football and basketball. Jonathan Jackson’s transfer to BV should open the inside even more for Tschirhart.
