Once Park Hill got accustomed to shooting at new HyVee Arena, the Trojans shot the lights right back out.

Park Hill, No. 16 in the 810 Varsity Top 25, used a 25-point fourth quarter to zip past rival No. 3 Park Hill South, 53-48, in the inaugural high school game played at HyVee Arena.

The Trojans (6-2) trailed 35-28 early in the fourth quarter, but got the offense going. Nyk Bryant hit a floater on a drive, followed later by a Nic Zeil hoop inside.

Then still trailing 37-32, Tavian Josenberger hit a shot high off the glass plus a foul. After missing the free throw, Zeil grabbed the offensive carom for a stickback.

A four-point trip, and the game was on at 37-36.

Park Hill South's Dylan Brougham hit a bucket inside, but then Ryan Graves canned the game's first three-pointer from the left baseline to tie the game at 39-39.

South's Lamel Robinson later hit the Panthers first three for a 44-41 lead with 2:58 left. But Bryant free throws and another Bryant trifecta gave the Trojans a 46-44 lead with 2:12 remaining.

"It took awhile, but once they found their range, we were able to hit some three's in the fourth quarter, which were big shots," said Park Hill head coach Chad Jones.

Desi Williams, who scored a team-high 13 points for South, netted two free throws to tie the game again at 46-46.

But Park Hill hit another flurry with a Zeil stickback after a miss, then a Bryan steal and layup gave the Trojans a 50-46 lead with :52 left. Zeil finished with a game-high 17 points, while Bryant added 13.

"Nic and Nyk are playing really tough right now," Jones said. "Tavian has stepped up and been playing well, which makes a big difference."

The teams traded free throws down the stretch, as Park Hill kept an arm's distance out for the win.

Both teams struggled early in the new facility, with Park Hill South holding a 10-8 lead after the first stanza, and a 20-16 lead at intermission. The Panthers drew their first loss of the season, dropping to 4-1 overall. Robinson finished with 11 points, while Brougham added 10.
