810 Varsity has named its 810 Varsity 2018 Elite 81 award winners, revealed throughout the holiday break.

810 VARSITY MO BIG CLASS Defensive BACK
Cooper Krezek, Rockhurst
Krezek was a major reason for Rockhurst's 11-3 season and run to the Missouri Class 6 title game. The senior finished with 60 tackles and two interceptions for touchdowns, not to mention 300+ receiving yards, and touchdown as a receiver and punt return. Krezek earned first-team Missouri Class 6 all state honors.

810 VARSITY MO BIG CLASS DEFENSIVE BACK
Quinten Arello, Staley
Arello was selected in 2018 - again - as a Missouri Class 5 all-state first teamer. The senior also was selected as the Suburban Red's Defensive Player of the Year, after helping Staley to a 9-3 record with 48 tackles, four interceptions and a blocked punt.

810 VARSITY KS BIG CLASS DEFENSIVE BACK
Malik Berry, Free State
This was tricky, being down to Berry and teammate Keenan Garber - who ended up being selected for another award ahead. As for Berry, the junior started his preseason earning an invitation to the U.S. Army Combine after being selected as the MVP of the 810 Varsity Combine in April. He earned first-team Sunflower League at DB after registering 56 tackles, 8 broken passes and as one rival coach stated about Berry as the top DB in the league: "Not close".

810 VARSITY KS SMALL CLASS DEFENSIVE BACK
Jaylon Scruggs, Bishop Miege
Scruggs was tabbed a first-teamer for the Eastern Kansas League at defensive back, and the 5-foot-10, 175-pound senior also earned first-team all-state as well. Scruggs finished with three interceptions and a fumble recovery in helping Miege to its fifth straight Kansas Class 4A state title.
