810 Varsity has named its 810 Varsity 2018 Elite 81 award winners, revealed throughout the holiday break.

810 Varsity Overall Player of the Year

Graham Mertz, Blue Valley North (QB)

Mertz was named to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl after gunning for 3,886 yards and a state-record 51 touchdowns - despite missing 1.5 games with injury. Mertz notched 4+ touchdowns in an 8-game stretch and helped lead BV North back to its second consecutive state title game.

The Wisconsin commit received offers from Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma and other national powers before the top 3 nationally ranked QB stayed with the Badgers.

810 VARSITY MO BIG CLASS Player of Year

Clyde Price, North Kansas City (RB/LB)

Price led all Metro area rushers with 3,022 yards and 38 touchdowns, adding 3 receiving scores for 41 total. His 274.7 yards per game rank fourth in MSHSAA state history. Price helped the Hornets into the Class 5 top 10 and a 9-2 record.

Price tallied 8 games of 4+ TDs, capped by a 386-yard, 7-touchdown performance vs Belton. 

The senior also earned accolades at linebacker, being named an all-Missouri second-teamer for state at LB by USA Today.

810 VARSITY KS SMALL CLASS PLAYER OF YEAR

Austin Moore, Louisburg (RB/LB)

Moore led the Wildcats to a 10-0 record before the senior missed the Bishop Miege Class 4A quarterfinal game with injury. Moore rushed for 1,554 yards and 21 touchdowns, including seven multi-touchdown games.

Moore also was named a Frontier League first-team linebacker, registering 85 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, 4 turnovers (forced fumbles, INTs) and a defensive touchdown.

810 VARSITY MO SMALL CLASS player of year

Brian Boyd, Smithville (RB/LB)

Boyd helped lead the Warriors defense and Smithville to the Missouri Class 4 semifinal. Boyd racked up a ridiculous 187 tackles and was named to the Missouri Class 4 all-state first team.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound senior also rushed for 610 yards and 9 scores. Boyd is committed to Northwest Missouri State.
