NKC Tops Lincoln Prep, 48-43 for Title

With its tourney title on the line, North Kansas City made sure to put the game away and the trophy in the case.

The Hornets, leading 35-31 entering the final period over Lincoln Prep, held off the Tigers for a 48-43 win on Friday night. Ja'Mya Powell Smith scored seven of her game-high 19 points in the final period to help seal the win.

Lincoln Prep stayed with the Hornets with two three-pointers from Chorus Davis and another trifecta from Brianna Budgetts in the final stanza. But Powell-Smith connected on 3-of-4 free throws, while Lincoln Prep was a chilly 1-of-4 from the stripe in the final perio.

In other games, Schlagle took third with a 41-37 win over Kearney. Park Hill South claimed fifth with a 45-44 win over Blue Springs South on Thursday, while St. Pius X got seventh.
