For the second annual Sunflower Showcase on Saturday, there was less sun and too much snow.

The  810 Varsity Sunflower Showcase, presented with LMH Health, was to be held Saturday, February 16 at Free State High School. But due to snow on Friday and another wave of potential weather on Saturday evening, travels both to and from the event for teams, such as Pittsburg, Derby and McPherson - were a concern into the evening. 

The games likely won't be made up this season, due to being so close to the end of the season and KSHSAA substate seeding being finalized on Wednesday. A few schools may look into reslating the games on their own, potentially this Monday (President's Day) or next Saturday, but nothing has been finalized yet.

"It's tough to ever cancel an event, but with the accidents on I-70 yesterday and travels today, it is the correct decision," said 810 Varsity's Chad Rader. "Overall, 810 Varsity held five events in 2018-19, and only one was cancelled due to weather. But regardless, its tough when postseason seeding and implications are on the line, and not able to fulfill that as intended."
