Smithville moving up from the Midland Empire League to the Suburban League?
No problem-o.
Ambroson led the Warriors to a 12-2 record, Suburban Blue league title and onto the Class 4 state semifinals. The Warriors beat Kearney twice and Platte County - in a four-week period.
Cornelsen turned the Blazers around from 0-9 in 2017 to a 10-0 start in 2018.

When you take over an 0-9 team, 4-5 wins is a major accomplishment.
But to flip the record and go 9-0, and earn the No. 1 seed in Kansas Class 6A - unreal.
Cornelsen did just that in his first year at GEHS, leading the Blazers to a 10-1 mark before bowing out to defending champ and state finalist Blue Valley North.
